Process Ownership Chart
By RISE Business Framework · Created by Gary Harper and Brandon McCurdy · Reviewed
A process ownership chart shows who is accountable for each process in a business, not just who reports to whom. RISE uses a four-tier cascade. One Innovate and one Lead role sit at the top, with four Manage roles and eight Process owners beneath. Every core process gets a single accountable owner.
How RISE does it
- Separate from the org chart: it defines how work gets owned, not just structure.
- Four tiers: Innovate, Lead, Manage and Process.
- One Innovate and one Lead role, four Manage roles, eight Process owners.
- The chart starts blank; your team names every node.
- Each core process has a single accountable owner.
Process Ownership Chart is one of four tools in Talent Accountability, part of the Resources quadrant of the RISE Business Framework.

Frequently asked questions
What is a process owner?
A process owner is the one person accountable for a process taking place. In RISE, process owners sit at the base of the Process Ownership Chart, under the Manage tier.
Can two people own the same process?
RISE says no. The RISE Business Assessment asks whether each process is assigned to a single team member so accountability is clear.
