Identify Key Purpose Indicator

By RISE Business Framework · Created by Gary Harper and Brandon McCurdy · Reviewed

A Key Purpose Indicator is a measurable target tied to why a business exists. In RISE, KPI here means Key Purpose Indicator, not Key Performance Indicator. You derive it from your company purpose statement. It should be a clear measurement that the business is accomplishing the purpose it was born to accomplish.

How RISE does it

  • Start with the question: why does this business exist?
  • Derive the indicator from your company purpose statement.
  • Make it a clear, countable measurement.
  • Use it to build internal culture and daily focus on the true purpose.

Identify Key Purpose Indicator is one of four tools in Long-Term Vision, part of the Inspiration quadrant of the RISE Business Framework.
