People Affirmation
By RISE Business Framework · Created by Gary Harper and Brandon McCurdy · Reviewed
People affirmation is deciding who strengthens your culture and who weakens it. RISE uses a 9-Box. The horizontal axis is alignment and the vertical axis is trust, each scored one to three. Every box has a label and a prescribed action, from promote them for a Super Star to move on for Culture Killing.
How RISE does it
- Alignment runs left to right from one to three. Trust runs bottom to top from one to three.
- High trust and high alignment is a Super Star: promote them.
- Every box on the lowest trust row means move on, regardless of alignment.
- Middle boxes call for coaching, clarifying roles or watching closely.
People Affirmation is one of four tools in Culture, part of the Inspiration quadrant of the RISE Business Framework.
The RISE tool
People Affirmation 9-Box: trust x alignment
Rows are trust (three is highest). Columns are alignment.
| Trust \ Alignment | One | Two | Three |
|---|---|---|---|
| Three | Party Planner: review KPI's | Team First: invest in them | Super Star: promote them |
| Two | Needy: clarify role | Reliable: coach them | Wait & See: watch them |
| One | Bad Fit: move on | Low Trust: move on | Culture Killing: move on |
