Leadership Audit
By RISE Business Framework · Created by Gary Harper and Brandon McCurdy · Reviewed
A leadership audit is a regular review of how you are leading. RISE makes it a weekly habit built on four simple questions. They cover your biggest challenges, the core values you promoted, how you would characterize your leadership and which strategies motivated your team. Outside views from trusted mentors or peers add insight.
How RISE does it
- Run the audit weekly, not once a year.
- Answer the same four questions each time so patterns show up.
- Look for the core values you actually promoted in the workplace.
- Invite trusted mentors or peers to offer an outside perspective.
Leadership Audit is one of four tools in Leadership, part of the Inspiration quadrant of the RISE Business Framework.

The weekly Leadership Audit
Regularly audit yourself as a leader based on 4 simple questions:
- 1What are the biggest challenges I faced as a leader this week?
- 2What core values did I promote in the workplace this week?
- 3How would I characterize my leadership over the past week?
- 4What strategies have proven most effective in motivating and inspiring my team over the past week?

RISE uses four each week: your biggest challenges, the core values you promoted, how you would describe your leadership and what motivated your team.
How do I conduct a self-assessment as a leader?
Set a fixed weekly time to answer the four Leadership Audit questions in writing. Review past answers for patterns and ask a mentor for feedback.
